I'm working on an airbag system, when you injure yourself, you just cut your safety line and freefall,

the airbag system senses the freefall and inflates a split second before you impact the ground,

just need to cobble it together and find someone willing to test it :001_tongue:

Who's screwed up the thread spacing BTW

I always use a lifeline and have never had to do an emergency descent.

I have had to come down from a chunky, smooth stem to sort ground stuff out before launching barrels, and basically had to spike down and back up again. The ropeguide wasn't long enough to set a false crotch.

Made me wonder what's the quickest way of getting down in this situation?

Sooo many ways, rope guides/adjustab;le cambium saversare great just not always long enough.

I cinch my climbing line round the stem by clipping the biner onto my line, then i would depending on distance come straight down on the hitch in a single leg. Or use a large cambium saver ring with revolver by pushing a bight of rope throurgh the ring and attach the revolver through bight with short sling to harness buffers the load to the hitch so you can descend on one leg srt style over long distance.

Aother way is to have a pole kit, basically 20-35m of 8mm static line in a small sack/bag use a karabiner to choke it to the stem and have a belay device pre-set on the line. Good thing about this is you can leave the rope in the bag so no rope to get in the way on the groud or tree, and is there for emergency decent or hauling up tools. Fairly inexpensive as well.

if you are on a pole, then leave a peg every 10 feet, as long as it isnt too level, or just chocker your side strop, clip your line into it and off you go,

See so many ways never thought of choking my lanyard although not sure on how you would transition over to your life line safely? not to keen on pegs idea though.

dont know if this is repeating, sorry if so, but i simply tie a running bowline around the stem, (below the flipline) cinch it tight, then have the friction hitch/device just after clipped into harness, it can then easily be tightened or slackened, dependant on stem diameter, and moved down as you move down.

i wouldnt want to decend to much distance with a hitch on a single line, best to use a fig 8

i have 2 sliding d's, so its a matter of adding a carabina. simples. if you are on a pole then swinging into pegs isnt going to happen, if it does then stay a bit sharper, you will only do it once:001_smile:

sorry mark but that is not good practice

it would be better using a bowline

lockjacks work well on a single line so i am told
