:thumbup1: Good post!!!

All this talk of the low productivity of British workers, its not the workers, its all the useless management they are carrying thats pulling down productivity!

I have recent experience of higher education and I would support your view Skyhuck :thumbup1:They're trying to run education on free market lines and its a shambles. Whats happening in practice is that the management are doing everything in their power to present the illusion of success. That means they hang onto their fat salaries for as long as they possibly can. I've realised that these managers don't need to know anything about the subject being taught, thats becausethe VIP's in suits that are given tours of the institution know nothing of the subject either. I've listened to a student, the principal, and a VIP all talk bollocks together, they' re all happy and as long as everything looks professional to the VIP, jobs a good'un. Anyone who genuinely cares and who dares to express an opinion can expect to find themselves 'disappeared' through management techniques such as the old favourite, 'oh look your job is changing and won't be what it used to be anymore, therefore we need to ask you to apply for your own job, surprise surprise you didn't get it'. If I ran my business how they run theirs I'd have been bankrupt long ago. Its a nonsense.

Now that I agree with! Very true, in the NHS for starters...

Yes very very true in the case of NHS. The wife felt like walking yesterday. Her night shifts were taken off her again this month and given to agency again. These agency staff have their travel costs paid for and where as she will get £17.50 per hour for a night shift they will receive £50 plus per hour and very nice travelling allowance and to top it off they just sit and watch

Yep regular staff on her ward supposed to get 3 nights every other month it's their little bonus . It's now 4 months since her last night shift. And these agency staff are really that lazy . Last week a bloke turned up to work and sat there and didn't want to do anything til the wife told him to help he replied he was only there to escort a patient to a nearby hospital but that wasn't going to happen for another 4 hours. Good on Mrs R because she turned on him and said " I earn £7.50 an hour and you being paid £22 per hour so get off your fat arse and help here or use the door "

No doubt those controlling the employed staff "have contact" of some sort with the agencies, this kind of corruption is rife.

This need getting into the press.

Its been shown that throwing more and more money at the NHS does not improve the service.

It's much worse than this........ Locum doctors on a thousand pound a shift, agency nurses on £160/hour!!!

Im guessing its the last Labour governments fault.:001_rolleyes:

In another thread some one stated they wouldn't do a job if payment terms over 30 days. These nurses and doctors spent years in training, earning nothing and spending lots before they earnt a penny. ♩ Now they maximise their earning potential. Why when we do it it is good business and when doctors and nurses do it it's wrong?

Wake up and smell the coffee!!!

This ain't the private sector for Gods sake. This is people high up in the NHS that are employing agency staff (through their chums agency)at over inflated prices when they are not needed.

It's you and I that are paying for this in tax.

Whilst I do not agree with the sentiment, I have to agree with the point you are making. There seems to be a serious case of double standards on this thread.

The majority appear to support the ideas of "free enterprise, get off your backside and work, don't envy the wealthy, find your own way to riches, blah blah blah" (paraphrased naturally but that is the sentiment boiled down). Why is this sentiment now not appreciated just because it is in the public sector? The tories profess to want free enterprise across the board and a shrunk down state, that means private health services as far as I can see and what some have stated about agency staff proves it. It will all go that way - the only big thing left to sell off is the health service. As Tebbit said "get on your bike" (and join the agency staff if you really believe in 'free enterprise')
