The point I think you are missing is that the conspiracy theorists like greengui, believe the banks can simply produce money, if this were true why did they need bailing out by us, the tax payer???

Oh, I see, I'm with you now.

 

I think Greengui is saying, and I may be wrong here, is that the money supply has been privatised when actually that responsability lies with The Bank of England. In fact a private sector debt has been nationalised so that the UK taxpayer is now paying for the failure of the commercial banks. Of course the bankers are still trousering handsome bonuses, business as usual.
