I think if I was in that situation and outnumbered three to one I'd phone in all details to colleagues/police and block road if possible rather than confront them.

 

Hope operator's not been too badly hurt. Wonder what they were planning to do with machine as not exactly easy to move on, possibly remove parts off it? When is plant and machinery theft going to be regarded seriously by authorities, I'd like repeat offenders to be hung, that would send clear signal regarding what society will not tolerate.

That's exactly what I was getting at Daniel. Take them on and either get a kicking or dish one out and bear in mind that you need to drop them to extent they can't get back up again while you're dealing with the others... So then there's consequences for that with the thieving scum now perceived as the victim. Alternatively call the police and even if they catch them nothing will be done.

it was in the galloway forest, if they had "fallen" into one of the marshy bits, they would never have re-apeared, no loss, hope they are caught soon, and for there sake, it better be the police that find them first......we look after our own up here
