The dark bit looks like Mahogany. I like to leave a few bits longer and then if I get bored I can split them down and make spoons or whittle something out of the wood pile.

That's a good idea. My logs are left longer 10-12" but the father in law only has a small burner

I was six years old and no-one was badly hurt; why do you have to keep bringing this up?

 

I base my life philosophy on something I learnt from a box of matches. Keep warm, dry and away from children. :thumbup1:
