New LDV Chip truck

Why so? Its still on the same set as when I bought it in 2009 (actually I think one got changed) so, yes, its an outlay but its such a cheap truck to own/run that its no problem. I will get decent tyres that will last well, not cheapo rubbish.

 

I'm tight and don't like the initial outlay i know what you mean though, you've had 3 years out of the tyres then pay out for some good ones and they'll last you well

New addition to the fleet. Another bargain LDV that I couldnt say no to!

 

I'd been after another for while but not sure what to get, toyed with tailifts etc but then this turned up, Extra long crew cab 2005 with 58K miles for £2400. bargain! The back of the cab is already boxed out but I had to change the shelves a bit, and it has a fuel storage box under the bed that takes two 20L jerry cans.

 

We will use as a back up, and to carry logs and stuff. I might make some chip sides that can clip on if need be, but nothing fancy.

 

The old truck is still going well, still only 60 something K miles. New steering box and new tipper pump but the tipper part is 20years old as it came of my old '95 reg LDV.

Also we now have a valeting company move in next door so everything will be polished every month for £20! Result.

They do look tidy Rupe, and I'm glad your project truck is still serving you well.

 

The only ldv I've ever had the pleasure to use cost 800 quid and a pint of rattler... It didn't have a drivers window and the chipbox was two different sized sheets of ply and a ratchet strap. It didn't have quite the same air of professionalism as yours, but I liked it.

I have too say that the LDV is a cracking war horse ,has much has i tried to kill mine it refused to go .

 

In the end i got fed up welding the floor pan .

 

I still have side windows and quarter lights for doors if anyone is struggling to find parts .

 

Will need to dig them out.

Its a sad day but the old LDV is no more! Almost exactly 10 years out of her and she gives up back at the yard in her usual parking space! 

 

The truth is she packed up 2 months ago and we've been half trying to fix it and half looking for a new truck and in the end the decision was obvious, get a new truck and stop patching up the old. Fuel injector pump has gone and the next mot will be expensive anyway, plus the last 2 MOTs were expensive, time to say goodbye and build a new one, watch this space!
