WHATS THE BEST PICKUP FOR £25k thanks all

In my humble opinion, we all want to look rugged and 'American' and drive a pick up truck, even I would love one.

Reality is, in the UK they just don't work. The bed is open to the elements so if everything doesn't get stolen at every set of lights, or when you pop into the supermarket for a sandwich, it will rust or sag.

Put a solid roof over it and apart from the cost, you've ruined the looks and limited the height of any goods carried to that of an MPV.

Then you've got to deal with the fuel consumption, half what you'd get in a van or MPV/Estate car.

What we all need is a van, our ego says were better than that, and so like The Fall Guy we buy a stuntman worthy 'truck' to massage our ego. And then have to leave all our tools and goodies at home so they don't get stolen.

But they are cool though:)

HI HARRY how about a VW VAN then mate thanks jon

We have 3 sprinter and a vito so all Mercedes, Vito is less money than VW and better suspension. If you dont need 4x4 then its a far better bet, these 6 seat vans seem very popular now, seats fold up or come out in minutes to make a full size van. On the road tows just as well as Hilux, loads of power, friend has a big caravan on one, does it fine

I have a 4 year old Vito and love the driving position and the lower height means we can get in all multi stories we service Gensets in. In some ways the vw is better finished but they have had plenty of engine and gearbox problems.

The merc bodies are now better protected against rust our last one failed it's mot on rust at 5 years old. The engines are in my experience bullet proof. Gearboxes are a bit knotchy but if that bothers you go for an auto.

Sorry but I think your post is a load of cobblers! A bloody van won't tip or get into my tip sites. I have a tool box fitted into my tipping body. I can tow 3.5 tonne, I might not be able to cruise at 85 like the non permenant 4wd jap stuff but my Landy is built to work not to ponce around in.
