I had considered a 372xp as it's a good price but is the 576xp a better saw?

 

For me its the other way round . Have had both and prefer the 372 . The 576 is a tinsie winsie bit more powerful than the 372 but weighs almost as much as a 385 ( now 390 ) which is noticeably more powerful . Because of that I did not see the point of it to be honest .

My 576xp is now 3 years old and hasn't missed a beat.

Runs 18" like stink and pulls a 26" and 28" bar through anything, so a 20 will be no problem to it.

Vibes are nice and low.

Can't speak for the Stihls though. Except to say they aren't the right colour ;-)
