Luck or judgement?

This was a poplar we did at the begining of the year,the LA we did it for wanted the trunk leaving as big as possible or as big as we'd dare fell:scared1:....well seein as it was me that felled it im sayin it was all judgement,thats my story and im sticking to it:001_tongue:[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1XwlqdB6rs]YouTube - Luck or judgement?[/ame]

to be honest, i would have to say luck there! it just held on the hinge at the last minute and twisted towards the fence. id have felled it lower and held it on one of the buttress roots on the opposite side of the butt to the fence. This would have given more of guarantee.

 

that being said though, no harm done and job finished!:001_smile:

I still maintain judgement. The fence is not running truly parallel to the line from the camera to the tree, and good judgement with a pull rope (vehicle winch), although i still reckon it would have fell where it did without the aid of the winch. That gob looked quite well angled. It certainly wouldnt want to be any further round towards the fence tho!
