Quite happily all day long with doubled beast rings.

 

Here is about a 200kg log, the bend radios is what you should be thinking about with heavier loads. The doubles beast rings has the same bend radios as an impact block. [ATTACH]175070[/ATTACH][ATTACH]175071[/ATTACH]

 

Interesting mate, I've always used big blocks for big limbs and large timber and ISC seing checks for lighter stuff or re directs around the crown but this thread has made me re think a little. I can see that with a whopper set up like Rich's you could move down a stem quicker than with a block. Does anybody sell them ready made with rope and x ring in situ?

I did look on treekit but they only seem to sell them separates I'll take a look at the US sites

The x rings are a US product anyhow so where does that leave us in the UK with what comes under what

I have know idea how it all the paperwork stuff legislations work on Arb/marine stuff All I do is use them. And use them under X rigging rings

Depends how big the stem is! Block for me on big wood EVERY time!

Your supporting both anyway! There no more expensive either way! David has just pushed the product further than anyone has in this industry. As far as I'm aware they come out the same antal factory just with x rigging rings on them! He didn't just buy a load and re label them!!

I've been using the x rings which I spliced at the weekend and I'm chuffed with them... Def beats hauling the blocks around up the tree!

FWIW,

 

I reckon David Driver saw a thread here in early 2011 made by a member who suggested using Antal rings in treework.

 

David Driver saw the thread and ran with the idea.

 

I think Antal rings were introduced to the marine world in 2009, an arbtalk member makes the link between the antal rings and treework early 2011.....2013 sees David Driver introduce them to the treeworld re branded as x rigging rings.

 

That's how it looks to me.
