We sent the lads on a one day ROLO health and safety course, and as long as they are awake at the end of the day they pass. Then booked the cscs test at the local driving test centre and jobs a goodun..... Well unless you fail.

If u have a city and guilds nptc card then that is all u need to sit cs cs test around £20

But you still need to apply for a card that relates to your trade.. And still have to do a day course. You cant get away with just doing the old green card as don't exist anymore. All changed in july.. Also if you only pay for test then you wont get card and a lot of major companies wont let you on site without the card.. Caused me a lot of problems putting lads through it and also financial cost:thumbdown:

You cant get labourers card anymore.. For £20 you may get the test but not a card and companies like balfour.morgans. carrillion. galiford will only accept card and they are the biggest companies.. If you think nptc charge £17 for a bit paper card!! never mind a chipped plastic!!!

Paul, is this the only way now to gain a cscs

Sit the CSCS test and when ya pass it ring them up and simply tell them you are a 'strimmer op/tractor driver' and the plastic will be posted out to you once you have paid ferret.

This cscs card seems to be an utter joke, just seems like a card to say you have common sense, health and safety in this country is a joke too much paperwork. Yeah I'm hacked off I've Gota pay out for a card to say I can do my job of over 10 years.

I found sites that insist on Cscs tend to be a pita. Next thing they want is huge in depth job specific Rams none of which they mention at the quoting stage. When you finished jumping through hoops and show up with 200 kgs of ppe on some spotty ,paper clip counting ,clip board holding pleb tells you the jobs cancelled because there is not enough h&s people on site to oversee it. I like simple common sense jobs :001_smile:

That's fair enough, you need to cost these factors in then you need to jump through the odd hoop, but you charge for it in one way or another
