if you dont mind me asking, how much do you buy in cord wood at???

had a chap ring me up and offer me cord wood of mixed size hardwood delivered in for £40 +vat.

i told him that was too much, he replied with... well firewood prices have shot up recently and you comand good money for it.

i replied with...it only goes up cos you guys keep puting your prices for wood up so we just pass the cost on to the customer.

he would deliver 20-25ton on a 6 wheeler with grab

now i buy in softwood at 27 ton which arrives on a 6 wheeler with 4 wheel drag

am i being conned here with the weight?????

Hardwood suitable for putting through a firewood processor is going to be £40 per tonne. If its being sold by the tonne you are quite entitled to ask for a weighbridge ticket.

You cant get legally get 27 tonne on a rigid 6 wheeler in this country btw.

I pay £38 + vat per tonne

17 tonnes comes on an 8 wheeler

Three stacks 2.4m by 2.4 by 2.1 = 36 cu metres

less approx 50% for air space = 18 cu metres £650 + vat

If I have it wrong could someone let me know if I got it very wrong be gentle

Last lot I bought in was £33 + VAT a ton delivered..

Have heard of a chap near us here paying £52 a ton delivered last winter which was for beech thinnings through the commission

Like everything though, depends on what the stuff is, what quality it is and how desporate you are for it..
