Green Party on a green surge....

Folks;

First I agree our climate is changing.

BUT

We experienced Ice ages and interglacial periods while mankind was running about in little but a fur lioncloth.

AND

Any anthroplogical influence is primarily due to excessive population growth.

Which produces many other nature-unfriendly by-products apart from Co2, like over-fishing, despoiling natural(and the more beauitful the better!) beaches to build tacky resorts for drunken holiday makers etc etc.

marcus

PS

When I see the Green Party promoting, birth control, eugenitcs and euthanisa, I may perhaps sign up, because, only then, would they seriously be delivering on their promises.

You need to read the 'Population' section of their policy document. There are a numer of policies there that you would be unterested in :thumbup1:

It doesn't matter what the policy is or how virtuous it is.

The state should never put individuals under threat of losing employment for having a different opinion.

I think they should go - because it's not right to have people in power with huge responsibilities working against their own job description.

Thats an interesting point that you raise Wood wasp, however, I think that there is a distinction between holding a valid, but different, opinion and simply denying scientific evidence? Climate change deniers are increasingly losing any credibility and are surely ocuppying the same intellectual space as, for example, creationists. It wouldn't be acceptable to have a creationist education minister would it?

Have to agree that Patterson was a grade A (.......) Forum rules and my inadequate grasp of expletives prevent me from fully expressing my contempt...

I'm not sure it's fair to say people taking issue with man made climate change are in same category as creationists.

I remember man made climate change scientists/enthusiasts telling us we wouldn't see snow again. Given what I've seen with my own eyes - and not a projected theory - then forgive me if I keep an open mind.

Likewise I believe there has been no global temperature increase, inflicted by man or otherwise, for 18 years. This flies in the face of what the models projected so again I'll keep an open mind.

Likewise I understand that some organisations are claiming that 2014 is the warmest year ever. Other sources state that this claim is based on results from one country only. The data from the rest of the world indicates no change.

Addition to above: if the worlds population is increasing substantially every year, which is fact and not a theory. Then it follows that mankind will demand more resources/emit more CO2 servicing this population increase. If we are in fact facing Armageddon due to increase of CO2 emissions then why is population increase never ever mentioned?

I will be doing something different!

Labour vote - no, there's not much there that appeals to me anymore.

Tory vote - no, local MP is a total and complete muppet, not while the current foreign aid budget is ring fenced and set to increase, not while the badger cull is supported.

Lib Dem vote - no, (why bother) although I do think they have achieved more as a party by being in a coalition than they ever could have hoped to on their own terms. Can't quite understand why they are getting such a slating from within - Clegg has achieved more than any other Lib Dem leader, they should, logically, be riding high :confused1:

Green - no, although the anti-fracking stance is appealing.

So what does that leave - MRLP????

You missed out Nigel!

I cannot see any real change coming until we regain control of our destiny from the European Parliament.

Certainly not wanting to be out of Europe in trading and goodwill, but not wanting to be run by a load of unaccountable bureaucrats, many with old communist agendas.

As I understood it initially UKIP wanted to be voted in just to give the country a proper referendum on Europe. After the vote they were going to have another election and you could vote in whatever party, but at least they would have the power to change things.

I am not sure where this idea changed into one where UKIP now has to have a full manifesto.

yeah, every environmental problem you can think of is made worse by increasing population. it is about time that we started discouraging people to have kids (especially the people that can't be bothered working).

we should also stop giving money to the third world until they start reducing their populations. in 1985 the population of Ethiopia was 41 million, in 2010 it was 83million. It's just not sustainable.... they are chopping down so many hundred thousand acres each year for firewood.

I've given money to a charity called "populationmatters" that campaigns on these matters.

I just hope that UKIP will be here for the foreseeable future. For the last decades there has been little to differentiate Labour/Tories. They are both in love with the EU and want more immigration.

At least now you can vote for UKIP if you are against the EU/ mass immigration/ allowing terrorists to stay in the UK.
