Can you easily afford say £300 a month to pay the finance even if you have a couple of slack months? I certainly noticed an increase in productivity with a modern age chipper, (I came from an entec), as well as a massive reduction in running costs and down time due to no breakdowns. One day lost due to a broken down chipper pays that months finance.

Wise words, running good kit makes this job so much easier and is more productive.

Just looking at this thread and thought I would make a quick comment:

GreenMech 130 over a 5 year term with a 10% deposit would be approx £40.00 per week. A 150 fitted with a 26hp Kubota diesel engine will be around £56.00 per week. You can choose to pay the Vat up front or on the monthly payments. Give Martin a call at GreenMech.

We have just got the gm arb 150 34hp, used it today for the first time properly, put a large pine through it, was really impressed with it, compared to our old ec150 it' blows it out the water it chips fast pulls in awkward branches easily and it's fairly quite. I used a tracked timberwolf before xmas I was impressed with the power of the engine , but the bar on the back was to sensitive and the branches kept on stopping it. And the other thing we ran out of fuel just after dinner, as with our gm you can go for a full day. I did like the timberwolf though. I think they both have there good and bad points.

By my calculations that's around 4k extra for just 3hp extra may as well get the 34hp version if moving up?

I do like the look on the 130, will be looking for a new chipper later in the year so will definitely get a demo of one

sorry, just seen this. answered my question. Maybe going for the 130 and slowly restoring my old chipmaster for the heavier stuff would be a good way to go.
