I would like to know what time you think it would take and what ball park figure you had in your head if you think £750 is cheap then what were you thinking £950? Also going on your username your make on the logs and the chip?

I am looking at 1day getting the tree down and chipped and half the second day shifting whats left of the logs and making the site nice and tidy. I was thinking more in the realms of £970. I know its not alot of difference but it made me think i might be to highly priced or that the £750 i know 750 is not cheap and it can be done on that and im not saying i wouldnt do it for that. but what baffled me and i might be wrong is that why would the client say to me the price of 750 before me sending my quote.

I am going to ask tomorrow and see :/

Not so much on the chip side but firewood helps tick over in the winter months when things start to slow down.

I only asked as I went to a quote today and was told the last bloke charged £425.. I had £700 in my head! As confused as you. Maybe take an extra vehicle and pair of hands to wrap it up in a day? This time of year weather and light isn't really on our side. I'd come and watch if that was possible and the chosen route haha!

Its a funny one really makes you think how others can run a lot cheaper outfits :/

It would be interesting to watch how others who quote significantly lower would do the job and what standard they would operate at.

If an air ballon could actually manage to dismantle a tree I would buy one in a heart beat :D i was thinking once when working with conifers near an RAF base to ask them if they would like to do a bit of training with their chinooks and lift the conifers out in one and fly them away lol

Yeah for sure. This conversation on price was after he said they went too hard on his conifers and it's taken ages for them to grow out to where he wants them and that one of the climbers stole something!! I said well hence the price you had problems and the theft was probably to make there moment up! Haha. I left with him trying to out me in promise land with regards to should a tree fall I will only use you bla bla

I would love to watch this other firm or any firm to see how many men and time taken. funny/scary thing is there a well known local firm like myself..

The hot air balloon was to lift it out not dismantle!

Its a sad one really as it just lowers the quality of tree surgery.

I educate upon site visits to let client know what to expect with regards to their trees or hedges and let them decide ad they then know what to look out for if someone if doing the job wrong i.e butchering the tree or hedge :/

If only hot air balloons could actually lift several tons. Maybe you can look to design one :D
