Hi i did my cs 30/31 as an add on to a countryside and environmental course the countryside & eviromental tutor got his facts wrong and told us the blue nptc book proved that we had done the course but we could send off for a credit card picture id if we wanted to! being young i didn't think to read the book! i'm now considering doing further tests due to a job change and have read the book only to discover that i needed to send it off for my certs will it still count? I did the course in 1997 18 years ago and the photos although signed by the assessor are of me back then!

if I remember, did you not have to send the forms off (the test form in the middle of the book) to nptc?, im sure they were only valid for 2 years, as I did the same my self, and had to redo the test 10 years later.

drop nptc a email, you never know you might be in luck

I think the cut off date was 2001 to get your Centre page from your blue book in. The problem is NPTC would have a record of you doing the assessment. People i know normally will have to do there assessment again.Would Advise get a 1-2 days refresher training as a lot of things have changed in the assessment...

Probably not mate. I missed my 39 and had to redo it.

My Mrs however did not send off for her licence for about six years (supposed to do it in 6 months of passing) so started training again to pass again. She later found out that dvla had automatically done it for her cos they had proof of her passing.

I was interested to see this come up, as i am in a similar situation from 1993. I did contact NPTC last year and they were not interested as they had no record on file. However I do still have the signed assesment proof that i did the training (although it is not a `certificate`) and could get verification from the Farm Manager where i did the training that it took place there. Having said that methods of best practice change and as has been pointed out refresher training maybe useful, especially if a chainsaw is not being used regularly, and depending on works needs. Just my take on it.

Can`t see any dates or time limits on the blue form, other than the written dates of the Assesments. It does say on the form only to be used as your first application for a `Certificate of Competence`, but not when. :sneaky2:

My guess would be that you are covered under the 1974 H&SaW act as being assessed as competent to do the work. Not having the paperwork will mean no firm would employ you.
