Nearly Stolen

There have been loads of thefts of anything and everything around out area recentlty, Herefordshire, towards the welsh border.

Last night our yard was broken into and the bastards tried to steal a timber grab and rotator off a hiab mounted on a fordson major, they managed to undo 2 of the pipes but the other 2 wouldnt budge so they got a hacksaw to that and dragged the whole grab around the tractor. This must have been 8 o clock ish.

We saw that someone had been in there when we drove by after that because we have a big curtain sider used as a shed in there, and the doors where open, thats when we saw the grab, so we picked the grab up and put it in the hedge with the hiab arm on top. This morning we found the grab dragged out further and the gate off its hinges, but the grab was still there.

The whole of this morning we spend loading easily stealable stuff, the grab logsplitters winchs ect. onto a trailer and hiding it well away from the yard, we also moved our forwarding trailer somewhere else.

So nothing was lost, which is good, but watch out cus these bastards are about.

how much hassle must it be to try and steal a timber grab, and i bet your one would of been a heavy one at that...:scared1:it must feel horrible knowing someone has been in your place, glad it never got stolen mate:001_smile:

ha exactly i have no idea why they wanted this grab, it was bent and buckeled, welded up in places, about 50 yards away from this hiab was the forwarder with a much newer grab on... they are a totally diffent breed of animal

IMO this should be reported. It may not be your kit stolen, but someone elses in the area. Reporting the incident alerts the police as to the area they are working. Or they may come back again, if you're lucky you may just have a squad car cruising around. These thieves arent opportunists, they've sussed your kit, and obviously want it.
