Id probably want more than £1000 to dismantle two big oaks and a sycamore plus ring all timber up and remove limbs on other trees. But really can't say without seeing it.

If say a busy day for three men then a second day for two men ringing up and finishing off the other bits of work ! All trees will need to be climbed can't straight fell them!

 

 

Where I am I would go with £1750+vat. Ringing up I never really make money on your normal day rate due to extra fuel, wear and tear on saws and it always seems to take longer than I allowed.

Hi all just a quick one, I've recently priced a job for someone, put a fair price in IMO! But had them send me an e mail back stating how can I charge so much Etc etc so basically the job is to dismantle 2x large oak trees in a woodland and every piece of wood to be rung up! A sycamore to dismantle at the side of the road all timber to be rung up ! All brash to be left stacked on site and a few large lower limbs off some other trees and prob a good few hours of ringing some wood that is allready on the deck in the wood! Just wondered what other people would be thinking for quoting? Cheers

 

 

As long as I've been quoting for work (15 years) you always get someone who is appalled by the the price quoted.

I do wonder as someone else has mentioned if some people see it as tactic to get you to lower your price.

I think everyone has a figure in my mind when they phone a tradesman for a quote and sometimes they are way off the mark.

I get plenty of people happily surprised who say 'I thought it would be more' and some who say 'that's about what I expected' as well as ***** like the one you encountered.

 

Guess the questions for you now are

 

How did your price compare to what you have been told on here?

 

and therefore do you think yours was a reasonable quote?

 

Do you want/need the work?

 

If yes, then what sort of discount are you prepared to give to get it?

 

Either way email the client back set out your position as politely possible, your already spent valuable time on this might as well give it 10mins more and maybe earn some money out of them, even if they do sound like the sort of person I wouldn't want to work for!

I would never charge more than what I think a job is worth and I would never charge less than what I think the job is worth. I certainly wouldn't debate it.
