Leaving Main line up a tree

No Never again!

Not since I stupidly did and came back the next day to find it had been stolen overnight. This was in a private garden with shingle, a 5ft fence and 40ft of lawn before you got to the tree. That will be another 45m rope that I need to find the money for myself then.......

As others have said, leave a throwline up instead.

Running bowline, choke it off at the top, Srt back up in the morning. That way no one can pinch your rope without getting to the top of the tree:) I know a few big redwoods that have a throw line left up them permanently, they've been trimmed down so the line ends at the top of the ladders when fully extended saves messing round each time
