Same here, used to cook breakfast for parents at weekends at 12, had to prepare veg for dinner during school holidays. Help with the baking on sunday mornings. We were taught to use the sewing machine and how to knit, oh and darn your own socks.

I know you would'nt get away with it now, but parents used to go to my elder sisters in manchester for a week and leave me and younger brother at home to fend for ourselves. We survived. We were 13 and 14.

Can cook most things, my mum always said by the time we left home we would all be able to cook, clean and sew, I can still do all three though the second two are rarer than the first :laugh1:

Too true, I think any tree surgeon worth his salt can probably cobble together something like good sewing. As for cleaning, brush, shovel, blower. Easy, no?

I am good at doing a huge pan of spaghetti, turning it into chilli the next day and then having burritos for a couple days afterwards. Also do a man shepherds pie, Thai curry and a perfect steak. Meat and potatoes are definitely the most important part of any diet... for me.
