I have permission to collect dead wood on a large amount of land, but without any power tools due to insurance reasons. I take a big bow saw to help me out at the moment. I'd never heard of silky saws until I seen them on here. What woul be best for cutting bigger diameter logs please. :thumbup1:

mendiplogs has got a Katanaboy for sale. Relatively expensive but sounds perfect for your application. They are better than you could believe.

Other normal size Silkys run rings around any bow saw anyway though.

As far as I'm aware, almost all of the silky saws are designed for cutting green wood (pruning etc) so if you are collecting dead wood, especially of a larger diameter, I'd say a good bow saw would be better.

Battery stihl or husky, no noise so non the wiser!

Ok, yes. But if someone turns up and you're in CS clobber, you're stuffed. Get the big Silky and be warm next winter. Plus carrying a Silky is a lots easier than carrying a bowsaw.
