I don't think we even have "parish magazines" round here, must be southern thing.

Over the 20+ years I've been trading I've tried most forms of advertising and only use the ones that work, I spend about 2.5% of turnover on advertising, 1% is with yell and YP, they work for me :001_smile:

Huck Im based near crewe / stoke  I used yp for years and to be fair they helped me build a good customer base . Once you have built up a good reputation as you have done it is easy to say no to yp :001_smile: Parish mags and church mags are good . I mean last year I did less than 5000 miles in my landy . All local work and 10 mins from my yard :001_smile:

:001_huh: Really??? you must love Yellow pages and their like, as they cost rather lest than that.

Do you really spend 10% of turnover on advertising???????

For new start ups 10% of turnover is reasonable to establish a businesses place in the market, we are running at 3.75% which is less than many other larger concerns.

No John! That was a one off, the chances of me getting work or being able to pass work back to a domestic plumber are slim, to say the least. That's where the "drink" comes in.......Or, maybe I've got it wrong.
