Working in the heat

I actually do work for a living Bob, thats why I suffer from it quite a bit, as I'm sure many many on here do. We dont have time to try new bits of kit and play around as the public purse does not pay my wages when I lounge around in the shade. :001_smile:

I work at self employed rate, not an LA rate. :sneaky2::001_smile:

practicing rescue is actually a h&s recomendation and should be undertaken and should be in your risk assessment and tbh 1 day per year actually benefits productivity as well as safety

you should make time and then you could maybe share the climbing with your groundie or at least have faith that a rescue could happen

You would be surprised how much work work we at our LA turn out compared to little self employed tree bods

The point i was making is that we have swapped around pre booked work for productivity and responsability:001_tongue:

So what are you going to do for the rest of the week or if the hot spell continues for a fortnight.

I don't believe for one minute you turn work round at the same rate as I do as a self employed person, what incentive do you have :confused1: ....go back to the yard early and get given another job to do ??

Today and yesterday were real killers in the heat. I've worn cat c up trees for the last 15 years and this week was my first in cat a - well timed!. I use a cambelbak and have frequent short breaks, I rehydrate as much as I can in the evening and get to bed an hour or so earlier and get a good nights kip in.

Most people haven't seen the result of heatstroke or heat exhaustion, as Dean says, its bad. I've seen a couple of lads nearly die of it. Slow down and take it easy fellas, its a bloody hard way of getting a sun-tan!
