Ground protection mats

Now that the ground is getting wet again I'm thinking of investing in some ground protection mats for moving machinery across lawns where repeated back and forward movement is unavoidable.

Solway recycling (Solway Recycling | Agricultural Waste Recycled | Plastic Products) can do them from 12mm Stokbord.

I've looked at a job to price today that would need 12 of 8' x 4' sheets each at £50 a sheet which does add up so I want to be sure that it is the right way to go.

Does anyone have experience or recommendations of a cost-effective and easily portable approach?

Cheers,

Tom.

I brought 10 of those sheets from solway, and had a 7.5 tonne steel tracked machine across them with no marks to the lawn or the sheets. They are used time and time again, and unlike plywood, wont rot, easy to pressure wash, and stronger

Thank you for your response. I'm glad to hear that the Solway product has proven itself. Can I ask, is the surface of the Stokbord textured to give grip or is it quite smooth?

Cheers,

Tom.
