killed my dosko stump grinders kohler engine today, somethings badly broken inside, time for a replacement.

cant afford a new kohler so have been looking at a launtop 20hp v twin, £520+, its chinese!

I've not had good times with chinese stuff, i realise the standards not good but i have heard these are the best of the bunch.

advice please.

am halfway through a job and the access is too narrow for the vermeer 252 so i need to sort this one asap.

OK, you're mid-job which is never a good time for a breakdown but equally bad to panic and make a poor decision.

Surely that money would go a long way to repairing the Kohler, it'll still be an engine when your "who flung dung" replacement is on the scrap barge back to it's country of origin.

Failing that, genuine Honda.

wrsni, yes very true,

after thinking about it will strip the engine and see what the problem is.

Its an old M18 opposed twin, these are obselete now so not sure of the parts situation but have nothing to loose.

does anyone know what the main difference is between the same engine with horizontal crank and vertical crank? The is a vertical crank model on fleabay.
