Chainsaw advice

wait and get a feel for the saws at college/work placements, try as many different models as you can, a 200T is for climbers only, so will hinder you as H&S say we're not allowed to use them on the ground

no-one will expect a new worker/trainee to bring their own saw, only maybe boots, trousers and helmet

just be patient and wait :001_cool:

Thanks for the advice guys.

My other option is to take the Cs30,31,32,38,39 short courses and try and get on with a crew and start the course Sept 2010. I have a good knowledge of tree species which would hopefully help me. Would you recommend this route or the ND which includes Cs30,31. The costs aren't a problem.

Thanks again

Chris

Chris, if I were you I'd try the job first, then decide what tickets, qualifications and kit to get. If you can get a start with a local firm you'll soon get an idea of what the job involves, if you can get on with a good local firm they may put you through your tickets, may buy your kit and may give you time off to go to college.

Depending on your aspirations, chosing and getting on with the right firm could be the single most important thing you do - find a good one.

you could do as i have just done. 10 week full time course, £1,800 - you get 30,31,38,39, basic first aid certificate and level 2 craftsmans award for theory etc.

i would highly recommend it.
