Hello all. I have a Husky 560 xp and want to change from my 325 18 inch bar and chain to a 15 inch 3/8 bar and chain.

Could somebody please advise me as to what parts need changing to allow for this....I understand the sprocket willl need changing but somebody also mentioned that I have to change the clutch and drum etc ?

Im not sure myself but I am also not so sure that is correct ?

Please advise...thank you

Daniel

I was up at the APF show speaking to one of the speed cutters up there and he advised the change for speed of cutting...was an interesting chat and he was a very knowledgeable bloke...so I thought I would give it go and see if it made a noticable difference down a tree thats all.

...and Thank you !!

What sprocket are you currently running? If you're not on a 9-pin in .325 then a saw of that size is bound to feel slow

Standard fitting...7T ? I am looking at getting this thing cutting as fast as possible...so when I go over to 3/8 what sprocket would you recommmend ?

I think the standard 7 pin 3/8 is very slightly faster than an 8 pin .325 ( I run the 8 pin .325 on an 18" bar ) Once you start upping the gearing beyond that you run the risk of sacrificing some torque and possible plug fouling as the saw might not " rev out " due to the higher gearing . However 7 pin .325 is a joke on that saw ......

So 7 pin 3/8 youre saying ? and thats if its fitted with a 15 inch bar ?

Nothing is set in stone and its only my opinion but obviously the shorter the bar the higher the gearing you can run . May have to add a driver or two if you go above 8 pin in either pitch .
