i've had a new ms192t for a mornings climbing, a volvo V40 for 3 days felling, free mini digger hire in exchange for logs and countless bottles of wine and beer for little jobs and extras.

LETS is taxable.

Suexual favours are taxable if you 50 quids worth of sexual favour for 50 quids worth of tree work then thats taxable!! If the sexual favour is free and the tree work is free then no worries but if one is done because of the other then its taxable,

We could all invent our own currency. Lets call tham arbs. I'll do 100 arbs for you in return for 100 arbs. That would be taxable at the current rate and whatever an arb is worth would be the gross taxable amount.

Are you sure mate- as i am pretty certain that unless you actually receive monetary reward then tax is inapplicable. I only say that as we used to rent a house off an economics (or something) lecturer and my wife worked for her husband. The rent was taken as payment and the accountant did not count it as taxablt income? I could well be mistaken, or it could be particular to rent aswell mind.:001_smile:

As long as there is no evidence of transaction/agreement then no worries. A bit like cash then. But if your living tax free cos your doing jobs for the landlord then that will be seen as taxable but only if your investigated. I'm sure many poeple are gettign away with it and good luck to them. I hate the exchange of money if it can be avoided.

My daughter gets free ballet and piano lessons in return for tree work. And i've had her scholl donations waived in return for a bit of pruning. That whole tax thing has worried me a bit now. I guess its all about how you word it.
