It's worth more than 2 "landies". A proper truck vs LR rubbish. A long term investment worth every penny imo. Land Rover can shudder in fear of the 79LC.

I agree, maybe that's why they are stopping the defender:laugh1:

the old rust bucket has done a round the world trip! not surprised it looks worn!!. the owner said he would have driven it to cape town tomorrow.

my hilux has done 238000, never missed a beat. second clutch, 1 prop shaft etc....

Hmm, not convinced. I wriggled under it and had a good look under neath, looked pretty similar in construction to defender, apart from some fairly beefy looking rear leaf springs. Bigger and better engine definiately, but in general couldn't see it being 20+k better. If that's the price of the truck imagine what the parts would cost.

Very basic looking on the inside (not a bad thing).

Now the 6x6 Sprinter tipper was very sexy.

For 50k I'd take my chances on importing one and having a wedge in my pocket or buying a navara/hilux/Mitsubishi/Isuzu for work and then buying another one in case the first one broke down (which it won't as much as heresay suggests). Try getting parts for one of those Toyotas if they go wrong... (By the way, I'm not anti the land cruiser in any way-if it was realistically priced and supported by the manufacturer in this country then I would be at the front of the queue to buy one!).
