hi all, as the title says really. i have a hitatchi battery drill and i thought the batteries were no longer holding charge but this is not the case as i've been able to test them on another unit.

i think it is the trigger myself but will bow to anyone's knowledge if it isn't

does anyone know how to repair one?

does anyone know where i can get it repaired near slough?

i'd rather not spend money i don't have on a new one if this can be repaired for 40-50 quid.

thanks to all in advance.

thanks for the link to that.

very handy site.

i wont have a go myself but at least i know where to get the parts.

i actually have two of these drills and both are now knackered.

the other one that i tested the batteries with starts smoking after a few seconds but they should be able to use the switch from it to replace the unit if that's what is wring with it.

the fault is intermittent so could just be a loose wire if i'm lucky.

my smoker is much more serious though and will only spend 60-70 tops to get parts.

have a go at it yourself

just take photos as you dismantle it so you know how it goes back together

it's the only way to learn

take the smoker apart first that sounds terminal and expensive and learn from that

You can probably buy the drill 'bare' (ie. no batteries and charger) for about £70.

that's the best bet if you can't rebuild one out of the other or fix one for about £20

Chuck a set of carbon brushes in.

Most likely it'll be fixed, if not: open it up and investigate if you are that way inclined as getting it repaired will not be cosy effective.
