Second Job: 2 Willows and Crimson King

A while ago I posted my first ever job that I did for a friend of my mums, well this one was a little further disconnected as it was the son of a friend of my grandma lol.

 

Anyway here it is, the guy wanted the height reducing (read topping), on 2 willows and his crimson king so he and his neighbour could see into the field behind from the windows to watch the horses and foxes etc.

 

Did the best I could considering I was basically topping and hopefully they'll fill out a bit in coming years but overall he was chuffed to bits with it so I guess that's the main thing.

 

p.s. It's a bit like where's wally in some of em.

The only criticitism i'd make (given the spec) is with the Crimson King it would of been a good idea to reduce the side laterals you left as these could be a bastard to reduce in the future with the leader gone. Not in the spec i know but for little extra work would of been good.

Ai, I gotta agree. I'm really not experienced enough when it comes to the fine tuning but a more rounded shape would have been better.

I would deffo do that, reduce the side in.

good on you mate, topping is never pretty, especially something weeping. you can only work with what you have got. looks fine mate, maybe just that branch on the top right of the willow though. is that another willow under it to the left or is it a lower limb?

Cheers mate, managed to talk the guy round to not completely hacking away at it so at least there was some left. The branch in question actually doesn't look too bad when you're there, maybe just a bad angle ... either that or I just really didn't notice it:sad:, had to go back up that willow anyway as I wasn't quite happy with a couple when I got down. Also that is just a lower limb, it does look quite bear now but should fill out and I was just chuffed I managed to get everything down to the same level without completely hacking away.

 

Guess this was a nice intro into the world of morals and mine seem to be out the window for the time being lol.
