100 tonnes should make about 150 cbm of firewood which you could sell and make £13,500 at £90 a cbm. Not a bad return on your investment.

More like £70/m3* Minus labour, fuel, breakdowns, delivery................ hmmmm

*Where OP resides

OP - Nigel Dunn Forest Products is a large manufacturer of virgin and recycled products based in the West Country.

Fair enough but fuel, breakdowns and delivery are needed whether the wood is waste or roundwood. If you can get the labour cost to fall in line with what it would cost to get roundwood plus processing labour then it could be worth it :001_smile:

I presume you mean £50/tonne.

No I meant £5/tonne free on lorry. It's ungraded green (probably 0ver 50% moisture) arbwaste with lots of bark, buds, leaves and needles.

I know I could get £100/tonne delivered for clean chipped wood to G30 and dried to W30 which values my green tonne at £74 if I could screen, dry and deliver it but how high would my costs be?

Another option for you . Once split its value will jump dramatically so if you get a cheap splitter it will pay for dong. Fit in well with the rest of your buisness?

I am not suggesting you go electric but the limiting factor with my electric one is me lifting the rings on it, so you don't have to pay a fortune.

I'm going to post a Thread on - The cost to process Arb. Waste!
