Got a front end loader on my tractor.

did around 600 bulk 300 barrow last year, atm have 950 bulk and 200 or so barrow but we have been selling last 5-6 weeks so id guess around 1100 bulk or so was aiming for 2000 but with the fire most of the timber left to process is too big to man handle so will have to wait for next year now and just pray for long cold winter.

At least you live in the cold North, only had 2 frosts down here last year!

only had 3 here and no snow you would barely call it autumn thats why need a good season this year

yep have a 30t 2.4m horizontal and a couple of 19t verticles

I only cut wood for myself as many of us around here do. It's getting more difficult to get hold of so I put a post on here yesterday asking if there was any available north of Manchester. I bought some cut logs in last year to top up and have just done the same this year but I actually like splitting them myself; it's not just cheaper but keeps me fit.

 

I'll burn about 8 cubic metres in a winter but last winter went on for a very long time and I used half as much again.

 

If anyone knows where I can get uncut wood, please let me know. I'll take anything, any shape or size except brash of course. It all burns.

How do the guys that are doing hundreds of cubic metres of wood or even 1000 store all the logs and keep them dry once they are processed? Big agricultural type buildings?

thats one way another is to have your logs in rotation, i have timber from three years back that are ready to process and sell this season. the new timber today will not be used untill 3 years, unless its birch or beech which is ready in 12-18 months.

 

then i store my processed firewood in an ag building

it keeps shed usage to a minimum.
