365 Arrived, questions

Hi all, the 365 special arrived today.

The reason i got it cheap was it was bought by a landscape gardener who never used it.

It is a 2011 model

Like new apart from a bit of rust on the exhaust.

A couple of questions!

I am used to a two stage choke, this one the choke is on or off. Is this right?

I have taken the plug out and the top of the piston is shiney new.

The other thing is for a 70cc saw the compression doesn't seem that great.

It pulls over much the same with the decompression in or out.

When it starts, man does it zing though. Sounds and revs as sweet as a nut.

Your thoughts please?

The 365 were never kings of compression - around 1-1.2mm of squish does that and can mean that the saw may not start on the decomp valve.

 

The choke will be on when pulled out and this also engages a "fast idle" setting. When cold, the choke is pulled out until the saw fires and then is pushed in to start.

 

When hot, pull the choke out and push it back in to start:thumbup:

 

Always make sure the ignition switch is on to start the saw:001_rolleyes:

Guess i flooded it on my first start up.

Give it a go tomorrow and bury the burger into some fruit tree before the oak, Give it a bit of run in time

I would try starting it without the decomp valve as sometimes it is easy to flood using it and without the decomp, it will be easier.

Mine takes 4 pulls on choke to fire then 2 more with choke in to run.

I never use the decompression valve, its never needed it. and I've had the saw for years. I always preferred the old 357 a bullet proof saw. But given that I've never had any problems with the 365 apart from an anti vibration spring breaking. Would buy another one they are good workhorses
