New favourite food

Today we had to do a bit of maintenance on a mulberry tree.

About half the fruit was ripened, just gone from red to black. The client said we could have as much as we can pick, 'it only makes a mess on the lawn'.

 

I don't honestly remember ever eating mulberries before but they were

BRILLIANT. Tasty and really full of juice. I must have eaten half a kilo but they are just sooooo refreshing on a hot day:001_cool::001_cool:

 

If you've not tried them - do it!

 

Just one word of warning, the juice stains like mad and it gets everywhere.

Love mulberries. So rare to get to work on a mulberry, particularly when they are fruiting

Eat them quick, they fall apart in no time, lovely fruit to come across.

Found one on a remote campsite along the Verdon gorge in France. Really yummy!

The royal artillery company barracks, London, had some real old trees almost thirty years back. They used to fall apart with the weight of the fruit. I'd imagine they're long gone by now.

Both died .....and not cheap trees either

Mght try again this autumn

 

There is street lined with them in paris -- rue de rivoli I think, if you walk towards bastille

Trouble was fruit was v dusty .......

mmmmm takes me back to childhood - grew up with a lot of mulberries and other fruit trees all over the place
