Looks sweet at first glance.

8 way splitter and can cut wood of 24" diameter that is some pretty monstrous logs. Most folks seem to want smallish logs of around 10"-12" length not width.

Were hiring out as well but there are quite a few people out doing the same so work is limited.

240mm long and 150mm max diameter is fine fir most stoves,

 

Some of the new generation of high efficiency stoves such as the Aarow I400S and Morso S81 are needing 200mm max length with an OD or not much more than 100mm.

 

When I see the diameter of some of the logs produced using a 6 or 8 way on a 400mm long it makes me wonder if there are any customer complaints. They are around 200mm from tip to bark, thats a bit big even if cut short. A ring knife would be better.

The cousin installed a "woodburner" stove, that really really required coke-can sized logs. And the small firebox required tending about every 15/20 mins (or so it seemed)

Wondered about going in with some friends and getting a load For ourselves to buildup a store

 

 

 

Did wonder if there was a business renting a disused garage for six months on edge of a town and just putting firewood signs up - and sell off the forecourt for the winter - cash and carry logs

 

 

 

Dead simple business model,

 

 

I know of someone that does just that. Gets an artic load of kiln dried logs in crates delivered in to a warehouse he rents. Got a forklift truck to unload the artic. Then has a van with tail lift and pump truck to go out delivering the crates. Not sure what he's buying them in for but he sells a 1.2m crate for £180. I think the woods coming over from Poland.
