Echo CS360 TES top handled saw

I used my echo 360-TES yesterday after a speedy delivery by forest and arb .

I knew I was taking a big risk as I had never tried any echo stuff before but after the first day I must say I'm very impressed .

I think I will give it a while to see how the build quality holds up and if all is good it will replace my 201t .

If ya remove the 'CAT' from inside the exhaust and mod the baffles, retune to suit and you will have a MS200T killer.

 

Don't be tempted to leaving it idling fer any length of time as they have a habit of melting the outer plastic muffler cover and some have actually caught fire, i have had 2/3 covers under warranty.

I have also found the chain can come off the bar all to easily therefore i tend to run it a bit tighter than normal.

I would advise you carry a Husky 372XP alloy style chain catcher and fit this if the stock nylon one snaps.

 

This saw on a 14'' chain and bar is quite unweildy and a bit heavy fer reduction work. The optional white palm grip they supply is better than the one thats fitted to the saw in my opinion. They are however more robust than a MS 201T in my opinion.

 

Once you have run 5L thru it you will really notice a difference in performance.

 

 

EDIT; When filling up the chain oil keep an eye on the rubber O ring that is fitted to the oil cap as they can come out of situ.

 

The black square plastic cover that is fitted directly beneath the top handle can come adrift and you will usually find this when raking up at the end of the day, it does however expose the rubber fuel lines and earth wires which you have to be careful not to snag in branches or with yer fingers.

 

I tried using blobs of silicone to hold it in situ but it has come out a few times now.

Mine is totally stock, it felt a little slow the first couple of tanks of fuel but cuts like a dream now. No issues with melting plastic, rattles from the exhaust, lost O rings etc, nothing broken as yet. Running mine on a 12" Sugihara Light Type Pro which feels right to me, easy to start hot or cold.

 

The petrol and oil tank fill holes are quite small but I use an Oregon non-spill fuel spout and it works ok if you push it down/forward with your thumb to close it before pulling it out of the fuel tank.

 

In short there's nothing I can see that makes it justifiable for me to spend an extra £200 on the Husqvarna or Stihl toppers. Others will obviously have different opinions which is fine, anyone wants to give me a Husky or Stihl I'll gladly use it

Well an 8002 will outlast your grand kids. The 620sx, well, that's the dream saw imo.

I wish, wages aren't that high where I live but even if they were why would I spend £550 when I can get something that works just as well for me at £350?

 

What would I stand to gain from spending an extra £200?
