Time ferra new chain and bar combo on the 360TES as the stock Oregon bar is made from philadelphia soft, spreadable cream cheese. I rang Radmore & Tucker in Exeter and they have a deal on at the moment on a new 14'' bar and chain for £30 but it's the same Oregon bar as original so i'm gonna give that a miss. Rang RobD's company and spoke to Lawerence, he was eggsellent to deal with as i'm not clued up on all the codes and terminology when it comes to chain specifications. I told he i wanted quality so ended up with a Sugihara Pro soild bar (with replaceable nose tip) and a chain to suit. All in all i spent about £75incl VAT/p&P on quality parts versus £30 for the stock lesser quality items. Will fit them this week and see how i get on.

This is odd as the 360 my mate just bought from R&T came with the (desired) Tsumura bar - 12" I think.

On all the current Echos Tsumura make the smaller laminated bars (which are painted silver) - Sugihara make the pro solid sprocket nose bars for the larger saws (in fact it says Sugihara on these).

Anyone else had the zorst on their 360TES replaced under warranty due to the cat working loose and rattling around loike a pebble in a baked bean can ?? Reason i ask is ever since i had the 'modified exhaust' fitted my saw feels a bit down on power. The part number for the new exhaust points to the 360WES (the Groundsaw variant) which on spec seems less powerful. Also the newer exhaust practically touches the plastic cover surround and it has melted/burnt away. i did read recently that someones caught fire as a result!

You'd probably have been better off taking the cat out of the old exhaust and refitting it. It's the heat from the cat causing the problem, that's how they work but if it's destroying the saw cover it's bad design. A metal casing would be the obvious cure but more clearance would probably help.

Tanks Peatff, That is indeed the answer. I popped back to see the warranty people at Radmore and F errr Tucker on friday afternoon to be told 'they are gone home for the day' so i'd hafta come back anudder time fer crying out loud. I was gonna ask the chap if he still had my original faulty zorst stashed in the drawer as he said that Echo may want it back to investigate the cause. I was hoping he'd let me have it back and i cud get some clever bod to cut it open and remove the rattling cat and tig weld it up, retune and hey presto job done. I looked at a brand new 360TES on display and the zorst/plastic cover clearance on that one is quite large (as was mine originally) compared to mine which is a gnats cock away in terms of 'gap'. So i assume that new saw is running the old style zorst or has a newer more bulbous cover to stop the meltage. I will take mine in to the shop and do a side by side comparison next time i'm in Exeter. Tanks W:001_smile:

Ok took the 'scorched' saw back in to R&T to be told another customer had contacted them to say both his Echo 360WES saws had caught fire (tink he's an Arbtalk member too).

They asked me what i wanted to do so i asked them to give me back the original exhaust (which they still had sat there) with the loose CAT/Baffle as it was a slimmer profile but would not come into contact with the plastic side casing/shroud, so no more meltage or flames!

I tink they offered the other customer new saws as he's lost faith in the product.

They are ordering me a new exhaust and side cover under warranty which is fine i said, as long as the new items are not going to suffer the same issue.

I checked out the various part numbers of the 360 WES versus the 360 TES and the answer looks simple to me; My saw would require a new TES exhaust but with a WES side cover (as it's more bulbous).

Lets see if Echo UK do the same and decide to sit both saws side by side and work out a simple/effective solution.

They were harping on about the type of 2t oil i was using and what kind of use the saw had! FFS i laughed and said i used Stihl HP and i used the saw for tree climbing work.

Will update this with more info/pics.
