Tree didn't look all that big until compared to you/loader! And if it looks big in the pictures, I bet it was bigger in the flesh. Interesting scarf, was that just to get the saw in for a bore cut?

Seriously though, what volume of elm work do you get? It might be worth a trip over.

I did see those photos Roseyweb, but whilst your elm is quite reasonable, it's a very different grade to the one Josh felled.

It's strange that snipes are only used in exceptional cases in the uk, whilst the Humboldt face cut generally isn't used, even in timber production, yet the cut is designed to reduce impact stress on the tree
