i have an old echo top handle chainsaw in my shed which has not been used for at least 10 years and i don't plan on using it either because it has NO Chainbreak. Im not sure when it was made though because i dont know when chainbreaks were first put on top handle saws , i only know that ground saws were fitted with chainbreaks in the early 70s but they were not like the chanbreak on saws now where it is easy to engage with the back of your hand.

I've a Stihl 076AV and stamped with 'Made in West Germany'; and if one considers the wall came down in 1989 that's pretty old. (For all of you doing a quick bit of maths, that's 25 years old):thumbup1:

Still (or should that be Stihl ) runs but has issues when under load with the 3ft bar on it.

I did once have a twin cylinder Solo, pre chain brake; got it going for about 5 seconds before it stopped, sounded pretty throaty.
