When I saw the title thought the beech along spanairds had taken a sudden turn for the worse!

Video really highlights the benefits of keeping photographic documentation of these types of scenarios, maybe should start doing the same with some of the more interesting ones at work ☺

Always find it fascinating going back and looking at how pruning wounds and fractures etc develop over a period of time.

those two are still looking OK, but we continue to keep a close eye on them.

 

if vitality & resource allows, a reduction will ensue at some point over the next 18 months

Nice couple of videos David thanks for posting; particularly liked the oak at the end.

 

I love managing these old beauties, unfortunately we don't get to do them very much, which I suppose is a good thing in a way......

Please excuse me for being dumb but im still learning and not very experienced. What is the reason for pruning in this way?
