I am having big problem with my hedge cutter - it will start but then will not run properly, will not maintain the revs and then keeps conking out.

If I increase the choke i can get it to run much better but not for long.

Any idea whats wrong with it and can I being a newbie to anything mechanical fix it :blushing:

Fuel starvation maybe if it runs better with the choke on .

Speak to your dealer.

Not that one the one you bought the hedge -cutter from.

<disclaimer>I don.t know whether this is bullsh sh sh shine I'm just passing it on<disclaimer>

Apparently...theres more ethanol in petrol than there used to be and in the near future there will be even more and the ethanol is eating up seals and diaphrams and stuff and mitox kit is suffering from this.

Is what I was told.

Would welcome informed opinion.

Happy days

Time for a carb kit, sounds like a holed or split diaphragm.

Thanks for the info - any idea where I can get one of these carb kits on the web please?

There have been issues with fuel starvation on these machines. The original fuel filters were found to be being degraded by the ethanol in petrol. The degraded material passes along the fuel lines into the carb where it gets trapped in the main jet orifice.

The cure is to clean and rekit the carb and fit a new, ethanol proof, filter.

I'd try richening the mix (not sure what carb on there but often anti clockwise on the H screw) in small increments as a first move in case somebody has adjusted (played) with it.

Thanks for all the advice will see if the plug is oily and have a play with the mix - if no good will do a google search again for a carb kit, so far it came up with nothing.

You need a D20-WYJ kit. Very easily available, any good dealership will carry them.

Mitox RRP £7.14 plus vat
