You could try lean ing the low screw a little bit to increase the revs and then balance as needed by backing off the idle screw. Can't remember if you've done it but if that doesnt work a decent carb clean is in order.

got a tech tach 20k on sat. seems to work a treat until you rev hard then it goes to about 8-9000 rpm then drops to around 1000 even though the saw is going at full lick? i treyed 180, 360 and 720 settings and cables and wireless. any clues as to what i'm doing wrong?

You probably have a limited coil, you need to know what the maximum revs are for the engine and then bring up the revs from 2k below just to the point when they go wobbly - that is so the carb and the coil are limiting at the same point.

It is the coil having this effect -caught me out first time, Husqvarna coils have the max revs engraved on the coil!

aye its a ms361 , max rpm 14k. feeling slightly confused. your saying throttle open with H rich, leaning out until rpm goes wobbley or just before wobbliy?

really appreciating all the advice!

You will probably find the coil is limited at around 13.5k so start with the carb rich and then lean out until the Tach goes all over the place which will be around 13.5krpm:thumbup:
