Stihl or husky strimmer /brush cutter

have to agree a austrian sythe in someone who can use one will cut faster neater than any brushcutter and no fuel needed. when i can get time i am going to learn to use one.

 

They are amazing tools mate. I got my scythe kit from Simon Fairlie in Dorset & he gave me a run through the whole setup, so much that I haven't bothered doing a course. Worth checking out some of the youtube videos as well.

 

All my grass cutting has been with a ditch blade so far, but going to order a grass blade which is thinner & longer than the ditch blade so should save effort.

I have the 460 short shaft purely for forest work, in my eyes nice strong saw , I also have fs 400 long shaft for grass work

Stihl brush cutters every time, have used husqvarna ones and they are very good but I think Stihl just feels better.

Forgot to say I drove over FS450 with the L200 and survived unharmed. Can't get any better than that.

No good around trees and for mulching stuff up. OK if you have a nice big open area you want to cut hay from- but we have mowers to do that now!

How bad was the L200 ? Right off ?

Scythe has got that covered as well; a trimming snath & blade is specifically for cutting around trees & along narrow paths, and can also cut around bee hives (without noise or pollution). But no good for mulching

 

For acres of meadow a tractor pulling a mower works well, and so do Jersey cows!
