do i really need to answer this, ok you could slip on a limb walk and pendulum swing into the stem smacking your head on the way in

yes you do need to answer this john, i would have my strop attached so i wouldnt swing anywhere. and in that scenario you said i wouldnt be stuck out in the edge, i would be tight against the stem. :001_smile:

ok dean you are let off, i never realsied you were so carefull of being careless that you actually had the ability to avoid the chance of having an accident

Careful enough for it not to be serious and careful enough to be able to self rescue and down on the floor in about 6 seconds and careful enough to carry first aid kit and celox on site just incase

Ok, what if you've all finished work and set off home. One guy lives in a rural location, on the drive home a dear jumps out causing him to swerve down a ditch, he is knocked unconscious.

Who is going to save him??

Why is this acceptable??

the point im trying to make is that accidents do happen, in doesnt matter where you are within the crown if your unconcious your not getting down, im not whiter than white, im not even pretending to be, im just playing devils advocate. its good to make people think sometimes

IIrc from the hse stats from last year the only fatalities were from chainsaw cuts to the neck or falls from height, I doubt if you cut your neck with a saw anybody would be capable of rescuing you in time.

Maybe they where rushing, to try and make enough to cover the cost of a rescue climber??

The only point I am trying to make here John is I should have the choice, if I want to climb a tree without a rescue climber (and on big or dodgy td's I do have one) , it shouldn't be forced upon me. I should be able to judge for myself whether the job warrants a rescue climber

To have one at every job is just beyond rediculous
