Chainsaw vs employees

When I started out, I was given a Husky 444. It was knackered. I had to strip it down, and rebuild it. I had it for nearly 18months until it was stolen. I cleaned it down every day and nursed it along until I had to buy new saws. I don't think it did any harm, it taught me a lot about saws. These days staff want everything shiny and new. :001_rolleyes:

Would be nice to have a choice or at least have some input. I am self employed now and have a couple of saw I am coaxing along which where ones I bought second hand when I started out. I bought a 550 new in 2012 and its as shiney now as the day I bought it!

Its nice to ask. The thing to consider is the people using them. Younglings tend to want bigger saws 60-75cc size but quite often mess stuff up because it cuts too fast for them and are better suited to a 50cc. Of course they get heated handles weather they want it or not.

My boss chooses a selection of ground saws:

Ms181 for general ground work, snedding, chipper saw etc

Ms361 for mid sized stuff

Ms460 for larger stuff.

Anything bigger and we still use the 460

I can advise him on what we need, and the best option, but ultimately it's him signing the check, so I gotta respect his choice

Did manage to convince him to get a husqy topper though :001thumbup:

If there is a saw that I really want to use, I'm enough of a geek to buy it myself. I'll use it at work, or at home, but it's the grin on my face I pay for!
