was wondering if the cheap dremel tool was any good for sharpening hedge cutter blades. Was going to get a grinder but a bit too expensive.

Any advice appreciated

I do use a dremel if the blades haven't been sharpened in a while, or have recently taken a hammering from wire etc then maybe finish off with a flat file to get a better edge, but if it's just a honing then I go straight for the flat file personally, think the dremel can take off more than wanted if your not careful

I use a dremel with a tungsten burr but don't do contract work, just a few friends and family hedges

Just use a 1mm thick disc in a 4.5" angle grinder. Flat surface, deflects slightly for a more forgiving sharpen, you can do the whole thing without disassembling it.

Bugger, you just reminded me that I have three to do.

hi, one of the Granberg chain grinders has a has a guide attachment for sharpening hedgecutters, Chainsaw bars sell them, and there`s also a video demonstrating it`s use.
