Jensen A540T starting issues

Howdy all!

 

Having some trouble recently starting up the chipper, sometimes when it starts up it cuts out straight away and takes a few attemps to fire it up.

 

Anyone else had this problem or has any suggestions?

 

Also another problem is when turning the chipper left it struggles especially on low revs as if theres not enough power going to the track.

 

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated as ever!

are there any pin holes in the fuel line letting air in the system, and maybe the hydraulic oil and filter may need changing

Starting issues may be lack of fuel or maybe a sensitive protection device Problems with tracking can be hydraulic oil, filter, blow off valve for that bank or poor seals in the chest or motor. I'd would also check the spool postion as it might have slipped giving half the hole thus restricting flow.

Sounds like it just needs a good service.

 

Do a full service on the machine and that will probably cure the problem, if not try having the nozzles cleaned on the injectors if it has done a lot of hours

Is the fuel shut off solenoid breaking down??

Haven't had a chance to take it to one side yet, the hydraulic oil is a tad low so will top that up firstly. Also the switch under the bonnet that stops you from starting the chipper when the bonnet is up looks knackered, we've got a spare one so will try fitting that as it may be a potential cause.

 

A good service seems a good idea, but how often do you guys do a full service such as oil and filter? cos I thought they had plant engines which hold about 9 litres of oil and need changing rarely?

 

Cheers for the suggestions, I will have to make time next week to try and sort it out, before it gets any worse!

we've got a tow behind one dose the exact same thing when you start it cuts out three or four times before it goes

We've got a tow behind one too which also cuts out? If you start it on half revs though it very rarely cuts out?

my 530t strarted doing that,it was letting the key off too soon & the engine not getting up to speed ,just held the key on a bit longer job done
