Just wondering which swivels are best and which are not so great, and why? It's to go on a Petzl Sequoia if that makes any difference to your advice. Thanks.

I use a petzl large 2ring swivel and i use it in all climbing I do. Good for re-directs etc and saves the twisting of harness bridge. Good piece of kit to have and there are a few around now:thumbup:

Works fine on a sequoia, got a dmm one couldn't get on with it when using the spiderjack always put the SJ at a funny angle to use. On the positive when messing about rec climbing and going down zip lines and on swings it is well good :)

For what reason do you think you need a swivel?

I tried one years ago to try and stop the twisting in my climbing line from my VT.

All it did was make the twisting (hocking) 10x worse. Took it off sharpish.

It's the same as most things. It suits some and not others and it's a personal thing and could work for one person and not another. :thumbup1:

I agree with spoiling your hitch spacing and making rope twisting worse. Seemed to make it all twist below the krab, requiring constant 'stepping through' of the rope to resolve. I thought it was just me, as I have a friend who loves his. As said good for a rotating redirect.

Strange how we are all different, iv used swivels for years now and much prefer them, made a huge difference with a spiderjack especially if your using some kind of pulleysaver, now that I'm on srt I still use it, not sure if it really matters on art though, first I had petzl small now I have dmm small, only thing to watch is they do wear a lot faster than rings. Everyone too there own I guess
