Not common.

 

Actually, I think there would be several buyers willing to pay good money, who could make many interesting high-end decorations from that. Either debark and finish it as it looks, carve into it, use the opening for a frame .... whatever.

 

If I had it, I'd definitely finish it. Probably would choose to stand upright and just leave as a stained natural sculpture.

I've found that its not too uncommon, but I'd imagine getting the opportunity to keep one & sell it is fairly rare.

 

Any shots of it in its 'whole' tree setting?

I love natural grafting (inosculation, thanks for the correct term David:thumbup:) and had this small one on a Sycamore the other week. We left the client with a little something rather then chop into firewood. Sorry about rotation of pics, don't know what happened there as correct way up on phone!?!
